感謝の祈りを捧げる、かつて存在した「祠」が出来た時・・・「宇宙の宮」賛歌、山田耕筰作曲の非売品レコード

宇宙の宮賛歌

「宇宙の宮」というタイトルをはじめて見た時、
宇宙空間の中にある神社なのかと思いを巡らせました・・・
機動戦士ガンダムとか、無敵超人ザンボット３みたいな
“宇宙ものアニメ” の世界のような。
でも、そんな空想の世界の話では無く、
本当にあった、宇宙殿の祠のことでした。

昭和３４年（１９５９年）に、丸善石油の和田社長が
大阪府箕面市に建立した「宇宙の宮」は、宗教には関係なく、
宇宙に感謝の祈りを捧げるものだったそうです。
その「宇宙の宮」の建立式典の音楽として
作られたひとつが、この “「宇宙の宮」賛歌” という曲でした。
きれいなメロディーで、想像的な「宇宙の宮」を感じられるような、
ちょっとロマンチックにも感じられるような作品です。

作曲は山田耕筰、作詞は大木惇夫。
歌っているのは、山田耕筰夫人の山田真梨子、高沢良明、
丸善石油混声合唱団、コロムビア混声合唱団。
そして伴奏は、山田耕筰指揮、コロムビア・オーケストラ。

この曲が収録されている、日本コロムビア発売の復刻ＣＤ
『山田耕筰の遺産６』(COCA-13176) によれば、この作品は
非売品のＬＰレコードに収録されているそうですが、
筆者の手持ちは写真のＳＰ盤（７８回転）のＢ面です。
こちらも非売品で、一般市販品の商品ではありません。
上記の復刻ＣＤと、このＳＰ盤の両方とも聴き比べてみましたが、
録音されたバージョンは同じでした。

そして、このＳＰ盤のメイン、Ａ面は「丸善石油社歌」です。
作詞・作曲は、「宇宙の宮賛歌」と同じ、
山田耕筰と大木惇夫のコンビ。
歌と演奏も同じです。復刻ＣＤには未収録。

丸善石油は、１９８６年４月に「大協石油」と「旧コスモ石油」が合併し、
現在は「コスモ石油」となっています。

丸善石油株式会社は、昭和８年１１月の設立だそうですから、
この社歌のＳＰ盤に同封された紙片を見る限りでは、
昭和３３年１１月に丸善石油の社歌が制定されたということになりますね。
社歌らしいと申しますか、勇ましい曲調の歌です。

もう既に「宇宙の宮」という祠は失われているそうで、
「丸善石油」という社名も無くなっている現在、
そんな歴史があったことを知る作品（録音）になりました。

A Hymn for a Lost Shrine: “Uchū no Miya” by Kōsaku Yamada

When I first encountered the title “Uchū no Miya” (Shrine of the Universe),
it evoked an image of a shrine floating in outer space—something out of a science fiction anime.
However, this was not fiction, but a real shrine that once existed in Japan.

In 1959, Wada, president of Maruzen Oil, established the “Uchū no Miya” in Minoh City, Osaka.
This shrine was not tied to any specific religion; rather, it was dedicated to offering prayers of gratitude to the universe itself.
One of the musical works composed for its dedication ceremony was this piece,
“Uchū no Miya Sanka” (Hymn to the Shrine of the Universe).

The music, composed by Kōsaku Yamada with lyrics by Atsuo Ōki, features a beautiful and imaginative melody,
evoking a sense of cosmic reverence with a touch of romanticism.
The performers include Mariko Yamada (Yamada’s wife), Yoshiaki Takasawa, the Maruzen Oil Mixed Chorus,
and the Columbia Mixed Chorus, accompanied by the Columbia Orchestra conducted by Yamada himself.

According to the CD “The Legacy of Kōsaku Yamada Vol. 6” (COCA-13176),
this recording was originally issued on a non-commercial LP.
However, the copy in my collection is a 78 rpm SP record, also not for sale, with the same recorded version.
The A-side of this SP disc contains the “Maruzen Oil Company Song,”
also composed by Yamada and Ōki, but not included in the CD.

Today, both the “Uchū no Miya” shrine and the company name “Maruzen Oil” no longer exist.
This recording stands as a rare historical document, preserving the memory of a unique cultural
moment when corporate activity, music, and a universal sense of spirituality came together.
